OPA Students

Welcome to OPA

Oxford Preparatory Academy (Oxford Prep) strives to create a center for higher learning where students from transitional kindergarten to eighth grade are prepared to pursue high level academic studies, as well as gain skills to be successful in the diverse, global community. Our students do not just meet, but exceed grade level expectations and become critical thinkers as they engage with dynamic teaching that makes them self-motivated, competent, and lifelong learners.

At OPA, we believe that all students are gifted. Student individual needs are met through differentiate instruction, based on the theory of Multiple Intelligences.  Students participate in activities and lessons that allow them to learn and exhibit understanding through a variety of ways that meet their individual multiple intelligences.

Students at OPA also participate in a variety of enrichment opportunities, including world languages (at all grade levels), music, STEAM lab, Taekwondo, physical education, after-school clubs and sports, 1:1 technology, and electives.

Our university themed classrooms build student excitement about higher education. Each classroom is affiliated with a university, where students learn about college life, admissions, sports, and academics. This also builds classroom community and inclusion.

We provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students, where diversity is embraced.

Message to Our OPA Community

Yesterday, an unspeakable tragedy occurred at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. As a school community, I know it is extremely hard to process violence on this scale and the senseless loss of so many lives. Our heartfelt sympathies are with the victims and their families, as well as the community of Robb Elementary School.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement Postponed

I hope you all had a wonderful week and an amazing Spring Break! As some of you may have heard, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) released a statement today regarding the timeline for COVID-19 vaccination requirements in schools. Because the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not yet fully approved COVID-19 vaccines for individuals of all ages within the 7-12 grade span, COVID-19 vaccinations will not be required for the 2022-2023 school year. Therefore, the CDPH will not initiate the process to make the COVID-19 vaccination part of the vaccinations required for in-person attendance until full FDA approval and no sooner than July 1, 2023.

Exciting OPA News

I am very excited to announce that both OPA - Saddleback Valley and OPA - South Orange County were selected to receive the 2022 California Pivotal Practice (CAPP) Award. Yesterday, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond, announced the recipients of the Award, which was given to only 727 California schools. “I’m incredibly proud of these schools and districts for their creativity, dedication, and innovation in the face of adversity,” Thurmond said. “These schools led incredible efforts to engage students, distribute technology, provide meals, and support the social and emotional well-being of students during an incredibly difficult time for schools and families.”

Mask Guidance Update

During a press conference earlier today, Dr. Mark Ghaly, California Health and Human Services Secretary, announced that California’s indoor mask order for schools will be downgraded to a “strong recommendation” on March 12, 2022. Also, in a joint news release, the governors of California, Oregon and Washington cited declining case rates and hospitalizations as the basis for easing face-covering requirements for students and staff on public and private school campuses.
