Governor Gavin Newson issued new guidance for schools on July 17, 2020. This new guidance states that schools and school districts may reopen for in-person instruction at any time if they are located in a county that has not been on the county monitoring list within the prior 14 days. We believe that all students are unique and gifted individuals
The purpose of this planning framework is to provide guidelines for Oxford Preparatory Academy (OPA) schools as they respond to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their school communities. This document was developed in coordination with state and local officials and informed by guidelines from the Orange County Department of Public Health and the California Department of Education.
Wow, it has been an unusual year!! There have been many challenges that we have all faced together, and many exciting and wonderful moments, as well. We are sure that no one will forget this year, but we know we will remember it for some of the amazing things that our OPA community achieved!!
As we depart for summer, likely to be so different than the summers we have come to know, I want to confirm the commitment we commonly share to provide an exceptional education for our OPA students. Recent challenges and opportunities provided public schools, such as OPA, opportunity to reimagine the social space where we teach and learn. When our schools reopen in August, we hope the world and the community is healthier and safer for all. OPA will continue to provide timely communication throughout the summer. I look forward to a summer that restores our joy, dreams and visions.
Good evening. We hope you all had an incredible week of Zoom classes and activities. We are so proud of our entire OPA community for the way that everyone has come together to face the COVID-19 crisis and the switch to remote learning. The success of our remote learning is a testament to how amazing our OPA students, staff, and families are. Thank you all for everything you have done to make this year a success and for all of your support.
Like many of you, we have spent the past week reflecting on our OPA values and the principles and ideals that we want to instill in our students. It has been a week of pain, anger, uncertainty, and reflection for all of us. Given the gravity of what has happened and the outpouring of support and enormous call to action for social justice, we at OPA want to express our deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is imperative that we as educators embrace diversity and promote a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students, staff, and families.
OPA teachers, staff, administrators and parents have been working hard using remote learning to keep students on track, motivated and engaged. Our 8th grade students will head out to high school in a few weeks, confident that they are ready to succeed in their future endeavors.
The results of the lottery are in!! All families that applied for the OPA lottery will receive an email with their child's results. Congratulations to our new Champions!!
Moving the conversation forward about remote learning and COVID19, our school's journey to create a high-quality program for kids.
Good evening OPA Families. It has been another excited week of Remote learning for our champions. Thank you to everyone that participated this week in the Zoom sessions. It is great to see students and staff interacting and engaged in all of the virtual activities and lessons.
