February 5, 2021
Dear OPA Families and Staff,
It has been a great week having some of our students back on campus for hybrid learning. The return was extremely smooth, and I want to thank the staff at both campuses for their hard work making the return to hybrid learning such a success.
The site administration is currently working on our Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAPs), and it is great to be able to focus on goal setting and student achievement. As we continue the LCAP process, we will be having a variety of stakeholder feedback sessions. We received valuable feedback from many students, parents, and staff, but I encourage you to also participate in upcoming Chancellor Chats, Town Halls, and other LCAP input activities so that we can continue to improve our instructional programs.
As the pandemic continues to affect our OPA community, we want to provide families with resources focused on mental health and stress management. Our new Social Emotional Learning curriculum has a variety of online activities and resources for families that tie into what students are doing during the SEL classes. Please visit the Second Step Resources for Educators and Families site to find wonderful at home activities and learn more about the Second Step program being used in our SEL classes.
If any families are having difficulty with internet connection and need resources for free or low-cost internet, please reach out to our technology department and we will help you get connected.
We will be having a Special Board meeting on Monday, February 8, 2021, at 5pm to discuss the process and timeline for the Executive Director recruitment and selection process. The agenda for this meeting will be posted on our websites on Sunday evening.
This weekend, our Aeries portal will be down from 10pm on Friday to 2am Sunday. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause, but we need to shut the system down to enable new upgrades. I also encourage all parents to visit the portal frequently to monitor their champion’s grades, attendance, and assignments. Parents can even sign up right on the site to receive weekly updates regarding student progress. It is especially important during this time of hybrid learning to make sure that our champions are staying on track for success.
Thank you all for your dedication and hard-work. Together we can ensure that all of our champions continue to excel during these difficult times. We wish you all a safe and relaxing weekend. Happy Friday OPA!
