Friday Message 8/28/2020

I am so excited to welcome you back to the new school year. As we finish our first week of classes, I want to thank all of our amazing OPA professors and staff for making this start of the year such a success. I also want to thank our students for coming to school this week excited to learn and ready to tackle this new year regardless of the obstacles that starting virtually may bring. It has been wonderful seeing our returning champions and meeting our new champions!

Welcome Back Message

We are so excited to be just 5 days away from the start of the 2020-2021 school year. I feel like it is New Year’s Eve waiting for the ball to drop in Time’s Square, excited and eager to see what this new year will bring for our OPA community, and hoping that this year is much better than the last. I hope that you have
all had a wonderful, and restful summer break. Although we will be returning to school this year through
virtual learning, we want to provide a rigorous, engaging academic program for each OPA Champion! Therefore, we have been working hard over the summer creating schedules for each student that allow for a great deal of face to face interaction with teachers and students, as well as the extra enrichment that makes our OPA program so special.

New School Reopening Guidance

Governor Gavin Newson issued new guidance for schools on July 17, 2020. This new guidance states that schools and school districts may reopen for in-person instruction at any time if they are located in a county that has not been on the county monitoring list within the prior 14 days. School Reopening Planning Guide

The purpose of this planning framework is to provide guidelines for Oxford Preparatory Academy (OPA) schools as they respond to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their school communities. This document was developed in coordination with state and local officials and informed by guidelines from the Orange County Department of Public Health and the California Department of Education.

Message to Staff and Families 6/19/2020

Wow, it has been an unusual year!! There have been many challenges that we have all faced together, and many exciting and wonderful moments, as well. We are sure that no one will forget this year, but we know we will remember it for some of the amazing things that our OPA community achieved!!

Executive Director Message 06/15/20

As we depart for summer, likely to be so different than the summers we have come to know, I want to confirm the commitment we commonly share to provide an exceptional education for our OPA students.
Recent challenges and opportunities provided public schools, such as OPA, opportunity to reimagine the social space where we teach and learn. When our schools reopen in August, we hope the world and the community is healthier and safer for all.
OPA will continue to provide timely communication throughout the summer.
I look forward to a summer that restores our joy, dreams and visions.

Message to Staff and Families 6/12/2020

Good evening. We hope you all had an incredible week of Zoom classes and activities. We are so proud of our entire OPA community for the way that everyone has come together to face the COVID-19 crisis and the switch to remote learning. The success of our remote learning is a testament to how amazing our OPA students, staff, and families are. Thank you all for everything you have done to make this year a success and for all of your support.

Message to Staff and Families 6/5/2020

Like many of you, we have spent the past week reflecting on our OPA values and the principles and ideals that we want to instill in our students. It has been a week of pain, anger, uncertainty, and reflection for all of us. Given the gravity of what has happened and the outpouring of support and enormous call to action for social justice, we at OPA want to express our deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is imperative that we as educators embrace diversity and promote a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students, staff, and families.

Executive Director Update May 27, 2020

OPA teachers, staff, administrators and parents have been working hard using remote learning to keep students on track, motivated and engaged. Our 8th grade students will head out to high school in a few weeks, confident that they are ready to succeed in their future endeavors.
