News & Announcements

Friday Message 10/23/2020

It has been a great week as we welcomed many of our OPA students back to campus for hybrid learning. It was wonderful to see students in person as well as on Zoom this week! Everyone worked extremely hard to prepare the campus for a safe start to hybrid learning, and it was a great success.

Friday Message 10/16/2020

We are very excited to begin our in-person instruction next week for those families that have chosen to participate. As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, October 19th and Tuesday October 20th, so that staff can get ready to welcome students back to campus for hybrid learning.

Friday Message 10/9/2020

Everyone at OPA has been working extremely hard to get ready for the return to in-person instruction on October 21st. We know that many of you have questions about what our new procedures will entail, and therefore, next week, we will be sending out information to all families participating in the hybrid model. This will include pick-up and drop off, health and safety, and other important information. Please be on the lookout for this envelope in the mail. If your student is participating in the hybrid cohort (on-campus instruction) and you do not receive this letter by Monday, October 19th, please reach out to your Chancellor or school office.

Friday Message 10/2/2020

I hope that you all had great conferences with your students’ teachers this week. It was wonderful for teachers and families to be able to get together and discuss progress, goals, and expectations, even if it had to be in a virtual setting.

School Reopening Message

You should have received an email from your child’s teacher today regarding our return to in-person learning on October 21, 2020 for those families who choose the hybrid learning model in the recent Instructional Program Selection Survey. I have attached a short video outlining the return to school information for your reference. If you joined us for the Board meeting last night, this is the same information that was discussed in my Board presentation.

School Reopening Update and Instructional Program Survey

As many of you may have heard, Governor Newsom announced a new system for determining which counties can move forward with reopening plans. We are continually monitoring the situation. However, in order to plan for a return to in-person instruction, we are asking that all families complete the Instructional Program Selection Survey for each OPA student. This survey must be completed by this Friday, September 4, 2020, by every parent/guardian, so that we can begin to plan for a return to in-person instruction for those families who wish to send their students back to campus.

Friday Message 8/28/2020

I am so excited to welcome you back to the new school year. As we finish our first week of classes, I want to thank all of our amazing OPA professors and staff for making this start of the year such a success. I also want to thank our students for coming to school this week excited to learn and ready to tackle this new year regardless of the obstacles that starting virtually may bring. It has been wonderful seeing our returning champions and meeting our new champions!

Welcome Back Message

We are so excited to be just 5 days away from the start of the 2020-2021 school year. I feel like it is New Year’s Eve waiting for the ball to drop in Time’s Square, excited and eager to see what this new year will bring for our OPA community, and hoping that this year is much better than the last. I hope that you have
all had a wonderful, and restful summer break. Although we will be returning to school this year through
virtual learning, we want to provide a rigorous, engaging academic program for each OPA Champion! Therefore, we have been working hard over the summer creating schedules for each student that allow for a great deal of face to face interaction with teachers and students, as well as the extra enrichment that makes our OPA program so special.
