Dear OPA Community,
I want to welcome everyone to the 2022-2023 school year. It is going to be an amazing year at OPA, and I am looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday, August 17th. We had a wonderful Meet Your Professor event on Friday, and it was great to see so many families back on campus. Thank you also to everyone who participated in our two campus beautification events. The campuses have never looked better, and we will be continuing our campus modernization and upgrade projects throughout the school year, including the modernization of all OPA classrooms.
This year, we are looking forward to opening the school year with more normalcy. However, the health and safety of our champions and staff are still our main priority. OPA is required to follow California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines, as well as those of our local Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA) Please make sure to administer a COVID-19 antigen test to your student before Wednesday. If you need a test, and dd not pick one up at Meet Your Professor, they are available at the school site.
Masks are not required, but are recommended
Current CDPH guidance provides for optional masking for students, staff, and visitors while at school or participating in school-related activities.
No person will be prevented from wearing a mask.
For those that wish to wear a mask but do not have one or have forgotten it at home, a mask will be provided upon request.
Monitoring of COVID symptoms
Students and staff will self-monitor COVID symptoms. We will no longer be conducting temperature and health checks at drop off. Anyone who is feeling ill should stay home and take a COVID test. Rapid antigen COVID tests will be available at all school sites.
Students or staff who test positive should report the positive results to the school and stay home for 5 days.
Following day 5, any student or staff member may return to school once they test negative. It is recommended to wear a mask for a total of 10 days after testing positive.
Any individual who continues to test positive may return to school 10 days after symptom onset or initially testing positive.
For security and health reasons, parents will only be allowed to drop students off before school in designated areas in front of the school, but are not allowed to walk students to classrooms. We will have helpers available the first week of school to help students find classrooms and help younger students carry supplies.
Our teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare for the new school year. We are all dedicated to providing our students with engaging, high quality, learning activities and experiences. Our focus areas for this year include:
- Supporting all students to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally
- Providing individualized learning opportunities that focus on differentiation and multiple intelligences
- Building community in our schools and classrooms
- Increasing parent and community involvement and partnerships
Thank you all for your support of our OPA champions. We are looking forward to an incredible year. Please join us for our many upcoming events, including University Orientation, Chancellor Chats, Honour Society meetings, etc., that can be found in your Chancellor’s Sunday messages, school websites, and other school communications. We are excited to start the year off strong!! See you all Wednesday morning!
