Important Message from Oxford Preparatory Academy

Dear OPA Families and Staff,

I hope you are all having a wonderful, relaxing winter break. School resumes on Monday, January 10, 2022. We are all very excited to start the second half of the school year and see all of the amazing things in store for our OPA community. It is going to continue to be a fantastic year at OPA!! Here are some upcoming events:

High School Night - January 13, 2022
Board of Directors Meeting - January 20, 2022
Open House - SOC January 26, 2022 (student minimum day); SV January 27, 2022 (student minimum day)
Spring Conferences - February 3-4, 2022 (student minimum days)

As COVID and the new Omicron variant continue to cause surges in case numbers across California and the world, we want to continue to ensure that our OPA champions, staff, and families are safe and healthy. On January 5th, Orange County had over 4,600 new cases and our 7 day average is higher than at any other time in the pandemic. Additionally, the virus can be contracted and spread by both unvaccinated and vaccinated individuals, including children. Therefore, we are continuing to implement all health and safety guidelines, including the use of masks indoors at all times, social distancing, frequent hand washing, and we continue to encourage everyone to wear masks even when outdoors to decrease the spread of the virus.

OPA has been given the opportunity through the Orange County Department of Education to distribute at-home test kits to classroom-based families so that you can test your children for COVID-19 prior to them returning to campus on Monday, January 10, 2022.

For our classroom-based families, we highly encourage you to drive through your OPA school this Friday, January 7th to pick up your testing kit.  The drive through line entrance and exit will be the same process as student drop off.

The hours of distribution at your child’s campus are as follows:

Friday, January 7
10 am - 12 noon
2 pm - 4 pm

Please give your child the test on Sunday afternoon/evening. If you are not able to pick up a test at OPA or wish to use another test / testing location, please do so prior to your student returning to school on Monday, January 10, 2022. If your child tests positive for COVID-19, please notify the school office immediately.  The contacts for the schools are as follows:

Oxford Preparatory Academy, Saddleback Valley:
[email protected]

Oxford Preparatory Academy, South Orange County:
[email protected]

Testing options for virtual families whose students participate in on-campus clubs will be available at a later date.

With the recent surge in cases, we are asking parents, students, and employees to be extra vigilant with safety mitigation measures. It is important that we all do our part to reduce the spread of this virus to the greatest extent possible. It is critical that you keep your child home if he/she is sick. Do not send your child to school if they have any symptoms – no matter how minor those symptoms may seem.

The pandemic has made this a trying time for all of us. You can take comfort in knowing that OPA values your partnership in our strong and caring community. Together, working in cooperation for the benefit of our children, we will continue to thrive and provide excellent educational opportunities for our champions.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, January 10, 2022. Have a wonderful rest of your break!
