Dear OPA Students, Parents, Teachers, Volunteers and Administrators,
I recently shared with the Board of Directors my intent to retire in June 2021. I am looking forward to that wonderful stage in life where I can shift my focus to family, travel and personal interests!
I have been an educator since 1985 and no matter where I worked, I always felt I had the best job around. I am especially grateful for the strength and support of our OPA community. Together, we met challenges, celebrated achievements and charter renewals. We ensured our schools are high quality, well-respected, fiscally sustainable and skillfully led by talented and responsible leaders, teachers and staff. The structure and systems we put in place serve as an example of accountability and responsibility for other charter schools to follow.
I appreciate your ongoing support of OPA and admire your resilience this past year. During the last eleven months, change has been constant and the status quo keeps shifting. I hope OPA schools have been an anchor during this time, providing you with structure and encouragement. To facilitate a smooth leadership transition, the Board of Directors will conduct an Executive Director search over the next few months with the intent that a new Executive Director be in place well before the new school year.
I am indebted to you for this opportunity to serve as Executive Director and for all I have learned from the OPA community.
