Return to Hybrid Instruction

January 29, 2021

Dear OPA Families and Staff,

Good afternoon. Last night the OPA Board of Directors approved the plan to reopen our schools for hybrid learning on Monday, February 1, 2021. Champions who attended school in-person prior to winter break will be able to return to in-person, hybrid learning following their normal schedule. Those champions who were part of the virtual cohort before winter break will continue learning virtually.

If your champion is currently part of the hybrid cohort and you do not want him or her to return to school in-person at this time, you can reach out to your chancellor, and we will make the switch to 100% virtual.

If your champion will be joining us in person on Monday, please continue to follow all health and safety guidelines. We want to ensure that our students, staff, and families are safe and healthy while on campus. If your champion shows any symptoms of COVID-19, please keep him or her home and contact the attendance office. Also, if anyone in your family has had close contact with a positive case or is positive, please keep your champions home. Please refer to our website's COVID-19 Information page for more information regarding COVID-19 symptoms and quarantine information.

As we return to campus, there have been a few updates to the health and safety guidance from the California Department of Public Health. All champions in grades TK-8 must wear a face covering at all times while on campus. In addition, champions must quarantine for 10 days from last contact if they have had close contact with anyone who is positive for COVID-19. We are also strongly encouraging anyone who has traveled more than 100 miles or who has attended gatherings with those outside of their immediate family, to quarantine for 10 days.

Our pick-up and drop off procedures will be the same as they were prior to winter break. Parents are not allowed to exit their vehicle while in the drop-off lane. Any parent not wearing a mask during pick-up or drop of will be asked to exit the parking lot and return to the drop off lane once they have a mask on. All students will again need to have a health screening and temperature check before they exit the vehicle.  Thank you for your cooperation and support to keep our OPA community safe.

In the coming weeks we will also be implementing a voluntary on-site testing program for hybrid students. More information about this program will be coming out next week.

For those families interested in switching from virtual to hybrid during Trimester 3, we will be sending out a survey in mid-February.

Just a reminder, this week we are having spring conferences. All students will be virtual following the Friday minimum day schedule on both Thursday, February 4 and Friday, February 5.

We are very excited to welcome some of our champions back on campus on Monday!! If you have any questions, please reach out to your champion’s chancellor. Please stay safe, stay healthy, and have a wonderful weekend OPA!

Sincerely,

The OPA Administration Team
