Friday Message 11/6/2020

November 6, 2020

Dear OPA Staff and Families,

I hope that you all had a wonderful week. It has been great having students on site at both of our campuses all week long. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to make both our virtual and hybrid programs such a success. With the input and dedication of our OPA community, we continue to improve each day and are committed to providing the best educational experiences and safest instructional environment possible for all of our champions.

Please make sure to check your Aeries Parent Portal account regularly to keep up with your champion’s progress and grades. As we continue to navigate the virtual and hybrid environment, it is important that all of our champions stay on track and not fall behind academically. If your champion is struggling, please reach out to his or her teacher so that we can all work together to provide the resources necessary to ensure his or her success.

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the country and within schools in Orange County, we will continue to provide information and updates, while maintaining confidentiality for all OPA staff and students. As of today, we have had no positive cases reported to us for any students or staff at OPA since we reopened for hybrid learning. If we learn of any confirmed positive cases, we will notify all families at the school site and directly reach out to any close contacts. Like many other Orange County school districts, we will also post to our website a list of the number of positive student and staff cases at each school site, if or when we have any. It is our main priority to continue to provide timely and accurate information to all of our OPA community and remain transparent through these difficult times.

Please remember to keep your champion home if he or she exhibits any COVID-19 symptoms, including:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting,

Additionally, it is extremely important to let your school site know if your student has tested positive for COVID-19 or has had close contact with anyone who has tested positive. We want to ensure the health and safety of our entire OPA community. And all individual staff and student health information will remain confidential.

Please remember that there will be no school on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, in celebration Veteran’s Day.

As we all continue to manage through these stressful times, please remember to take care of yourselves both mentally and physically. Get outdoors, find ways to alleviate stress, continue to interact socially in a safe and healthy manner, and continue to support each other. I am so grateful for everyone in our OPA community and I hope you all have an incredible weekend.

 Sincerely,

The OPA Administrative Team
