Dear OPA Families and Staff,
Happy Friday OPA families and staff! I hope that you all had a wonderful week. I am excited that it is finally feeling like fall outside.
Everyone at OPA has been working extremely hard to get ready for the return to in-person instruction on October 21st. We know that many of you have questions about what our new procedures will entail, and therefore, next week, we will be sending out information to all families participating in the hybrid model. This will include pick-up and drop off, health and safety, and other important information. Please be on the lookout for this envelope in the mail. If your student is participating in the hybrid cohort (on-campus instruction) and you do not receive this letter by Monday, October 19th, please reach out to your Chancellor or school office.
For all families, we will have new schedules available next week for your champions. Once these are accessible in Aeries, we will let everyone know how to view them. Your teachers will also be providing information regarding what to bring to class for our hybrid students and what Zoom links to use for our virtual classes.
We have been receiving many questions regarding the increasing COVID-19 rates in Orange County and the fact that we have not yet moved to the Orange Tier on the state monitoring system, especially in light of recent school openings being postponed in nearby districts. Schools in the Red Tier can still reopen for hybrid instruction, if it is deemed safe to do so. However, if Orange County moves to the Purple Tier before October 21st, we will have to postpone our reopening. We are monitoring the numbers daily in order to provide the timeliest information to our community, but we are still bound by state regulations. We will continue to keep everyone informed of any changes as soon as we have any new information. Thank you all for your patience and support through these ever-changing times. But we are still very optimistic that school will reopen for hybrid instruction on October 21st.
We want to send a huge thank you to our OPA support staff. They are the backbone of our organization and they ensure that the teachers are able to provide such an excellent education to our champions. From providing tremendous instructional support to our scholar academy students, to answering countless questions from parents and staff in the office, to providing incredible tech support during virtual learning, and keeping our campuses safe and clean, they are an integral part of our OPA community and one whose dedication and endless support is sometimes overlooked. Thank you for all you do to make OPA such an incredible school.
Please make sure to look out for emails and communications throughout next week with information regarding the new cohort schedule and in-person procedures. Stay safe, stay healthy, and have a wonderful weekend Champion families and staff!!
